After being diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), Shellharbour FNF member, Nicole was finding it difficult to reach her fitness goals. Nicole wanted to lose body fat and gain muscle, however due to the challenges involved with having PCOS and including insulin resistance Nicole struggled to achieve this.
After trying everything, including calorie counting diets Nicole realised that she may need a helping hand. She approached Personal Trainer Mary Mak and together they were able to create a plan and start working on Nicole’s fitness goals.
Part of Nicole’s training plan was to increase her calories, reduce the amount of cardio workouts and add heavier lifting exercises to her regime. When women are advised to lift heavy weights there often comes a stigma of ‘bulking up’ however for many women just like Nicole this is the best plan to lose any excess body fat and gain lean muscle.
Throughout her training with Mary Mak, Nicole had her times of doubt but she stayed patient and dedicated to her program! Her hard work paid off and she is now thrilled with what she has achieved and loving her results. The last word from Nicole? “I’m not done yet.”
